Kia Ora, I'm Maya

I’m a Pākehā graphic designer based in Pōneke, Wellington. I completed my Bachelor of Design (Honours) at Massey University in 2025.

Growing up and studying in Pōneke has deeply shaped both my creative practice and my worldview. I’m inspired by the city’s vibrant culture, strong sense of community, and beautiful whenua. I am drawn to creating graphic design that has the power to create meaningful change. I’m especially passionate about projects that explore sustainability, feminism, and human rights. I aim to create work that not only looks beautiful but also connects people, inspires action, and makes a positive social impact.

I specialise in user experience and web design, as well as print design, including posters and ephemera. I enjoy creating seamless visual identities across a range of media.

Inflorescence

Ephemera Design – Installation Design – Group Project

Inflorecence was a group exhibition held at Thistle Hall seeking to explore the multifaceted nature of femininity. Through painting, sculpture and design, our multivalent works use flowers and drapery as common motifs, synthesising concepts between each artist. Ephemera I designed for Inflorecence included posters, invitations, signage, and catalogues. This project mixed my interest in print design with my personal aesthetic and style of femininity.
